Why does’t my Router network my home Computers?

I use a Router on my home network and I have no problem with hooking up any computers to the internet but none of my computers can see each other. I have them all on a workgroup but it still doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong?

You need to have file and printer sharing turned on. Find out the ip address of the other computers and type it in the run box, this will let you view other peoples files and stuff.

Okay, on the main computer, go here:
Control panel > Network Setup wizard.
When the wizard opens, click next until you reach the little check boxes. Click “Other”. Next. Make sure the first one is selected and press next. You may change the options in the next step, but usually you would leave them alone. Put in a workgroup name, and click next. TURN ON FILE SHARING!!! Click next and it will go to work. When it finishes, do these same processes on EVERY computer on your router.

Well good news is the problem has been sorted.
The solution was two simple lines from the command prompt:
netsh winsock reset
and
netsh int ip reset
I was asked to reboot to affect changes, and volia!
I went into “my network places” and I could see my local machine, and the other machines on the network. I deleted the shortcuts I had made to the other machines and everything seems to be working fine.
So I guess my WINSOCK and/or IPstack had been corrupted- either way the commands got it dealt with. Happy days!
